The Arachni-Lobster is a minor antagonist in the 2007 American horror film The Mist.

This gigantic creature is one of the mist's most dangerous predators, being the size of a Tyrannosaurus and just as powerful. One of these beasts emerges from the mist to kill and devour Private Wayne Jessup.

Appearance

The Arachni-Lobster is a gigantic crustacean animal. Based on its number of legs, it appears to be more arachnid-like. Six of its limbs are crab-like and are used for walking, and the two foremost limbs end in crab-like pincers with an extra spike jutting out of each "wrist". Rather than a pair of mandibles, the Arachni-Lobster appears to have a more vertebrate-like jaw. The creature's head is long and extends backward into a large crest.

Powers and Abilities

The Arachni-Lobster possesses the following powers and abilities:

  • Enormous size
  • Claws

Fate

The Arachni-Lobster is never killed on-screen, but it is presumably killed with the rest of the monsters by the military at the film's end.

Trivia

  • The Arachni-Lobster is the second largest creature seen in the film.
