The Cocaine Bear or Cokey is the main antagonist of the 2023 American horror/comedy film Cocaine Bear.
In 1985, a drug smuggler accidentally drops a package of cocaine from his plane, but he falls to his death in his attempt to retrieve it. A female American black bear stumbles upon the package and ingests some of the cocaine, flying into an aggressive rage and going on a rampage.
Appearance
Cocaine Bear is a large female American black bear whose fur is covered in cocaine dust. The bear is also revealed to be a mother to two cubs late in the film.
Powers and Abilities
Cocaine Bear has all the abilities of a normal American black bear, including sharp claws and teeth, but her levels of aggression are greatly heightened by her drug-induced state.
Fate
When Cokey returns to defend her cubs and comes off of her high, the protagonists jump off a waterfall to escape the situation. Drug kingpin Syd refuses to leave without the remaining cocaine and attempts to fight the bear, injuring her but ultimately get mauled to death. Her rage subsiding, Cokey returns to her cubs, surviving the events of the film. In the real story the film was based on, Cokey instead died due to ingesting a large amount of cocaine and was not responsible for any deaths.
