Mutant Cordyceps is the antagonist in the 2020 film, Superdeep.
A small research team went down below the surface to find out what secret the world's deepest borehole was hiding. What they have found turned out to be the greatest threat in history...and the future of humanity is in their hands.

Mutant Cordyceps is stopped when Anna sacrifices herself (and the mold within her) by blowing herself up with a grenade.
Trivia
- The facility is located roughly 5220 meters down.
- The door is covered in scratches spelling out ominous warnings such as "help us", "deliver us from evil" and Latin translating to "insatiable hunger".
- The sample is shown to grow rapidly and is discovered to be a highly virulent form of mold.
- Peter theorizes that the mold might behave similar to Cordyceps, a fungus that forces ants to return to their colony which in turn releases spores and infects the entire colony.
- Peter is attacked by a large creature made up of screaming infected hosts that have all been melted into one organism.
