Peniston's Creature

Peniston's Creature is the antagonist in the 1998 miniseries, Creature.

The miniseries is about an amphibious shark-like monster terrorizing an abandoned secret military base and the people who live on the island where it is located.

Appearance

Peniston's Creature has the face of a great white shark with intelligence in its eyes. Its neck is muscular and can move the head individually from its abdomen. Its abdomen resembles a human's thorax. There is a shark fin on its back and it sports shoulder and elbow spikes. The creature evolves human appendages in the form of two muscular arms and two legs. Its hands have three digits ending in sharp claws and its feet have three claw equipped toes. Mottled green in color it has a lighter ventral color and a darker dorsal color similar to other ocean predators. Its tail is that of a great white shark and is used when it swims the same way as sharks.

Peniston's Creature possesses the following powers and abilities:

  • Can adapt itself to any environment (evolves rapidly)

  • Can devise and execute plans
  • Great white shark teeth and abilities
  • Strong human arms with claws
  • Human legs with feet equipped with claws
  • Human dexterity, balance and locomotion on land

Fate

Peniston's Creature is killed when Chase traps it in the decompression chamber increasing the pressure very high then smashing the window of the chamber causing rapid decompression. The explosive decompression in turn, causes the creature to explode.

Trivia

  • This is based on the Peter Benchley novel "White Shark". After the TV Movie "Creature" went into production, "White Shark" was re-titled and re-released under the name "Creature" to cash in on the movie.
