Rippy is the main antagonist of the 2024 Australian Outback horror film The Red.
Rippy was once a normal red kangaroo with a violent temperament. After being heavily scarred during a fight with a rival male, Rippy retired to a river to recoup, only to die due to toxic chemicals that had been poured in the water. The chemicals then reanimated Rippy as an undead beast with a hunger for flesh.
Appearance
Rippy is an oversized, grotesque version of a red kangaroo, standing well over seven feet tall. Its fur is patchy, matted with blood and dirt, and in places, it has rotted away to reveal decaying flesh.
Powers and Abilities
Rippy possesses enhanced strength and durability beyond that of any normal kangaroo. It can leap great distances, covering large areas in a matter of seconds, making it nearly impossible to escape once it has locked onto its prey. Its razor-sharp claws and powerful kicks can rip a person apart in seconds, and it displays a cruel intelligence, stalking its victims with a predatory cunning not typically seen in undead creatures. Being undead, Rippy is also highly resistant to conventional weapons, shrugging off gunshots and injuries that would incapacitate a normal animal.
Fate
Maddy eventually confronts Rippy and disfigures his face with a shotgun. When Rippy leaps toward her, she manages to kill him with three swings with an axe, finally taking him down for good.
