The Rise Gargoyle is the antagonist in the 2009 Syfy film, Rise of the Gargoyles.
An American professor tries to stop an ancient winged creature that terrorizes Paris. A single mother gargoyle with a clutch of eggs which could spell doom for the human race if they hatch.
Appearance
The Rise Gargoyle is a bear sized mammalian female beast with reptilian scales and eyes with a rodent like face, large expansive leathery wings, strong arms and claws and a long snake like tail

The protagonists head down into the Parisian catacombs armed with a UV strobe light and an armor-piercing bullet, planning to petrify it and then kill its brittle stone body. The priest lures Lamashtu away so the others can locate the nest. Upon finding the creature's eggs, they use the light to petrify and destroy them. After the nest is destroyed, they exit the catacombs into an old church. Determined to go down killing the beast, the priest Father Gable detonates a series of explosives scattered around the church by the construction crew, blowing the entire building up and killing both him and Lamashtu.
Trivia
- Lamashtu is very loosely based on a malevolent Mesopotamian goddess of the same name.
