The Slime People are the antagonists in the 1963 film, The Slime People.

A race of subterranean reptile-men they created a wall of "solidified fog" around Los Angeles using a strange organic-looking machine and proceed to invade the city after they are driven out of their subterranean homes by underground atomic tests. Due to the fog, plus their amorphous bodies ability to quickly seal up wounds inflicted by guns and knives, the creatures quickly managed to overwhelm most of the city. However their plans hit a snag when a group of human survivors discovered the solid fog could be made gaseous again with salt water, and also found a way to circumvent the creatures healing ability by stabbing the creatures with their own spears which, due to being hollow inside, would prevent the creatures wounds from sealing and eventually cause them to bleed out. Taking advantage of these facts the human survivors eventually managed to reach the Slime People’s fog machine and destroy it, upon which point the Slime People were immediately killed by the sudden temperature spike caused by the fog’s abrupt dispersal.
